Our Philosophy

City Grill was started in 1999 by Peter Protoulis with a vision to show-case a classic South African Steakhouse full of flair, in a sophisticated setting and with a sharp focus on service excellence – celebrating beautiful cuts of meat and traditional dishes that this country is known for.

Every dish on our menu tells its own unique story from the traditional South African recipes, to modern up-to-date dishes that expresses our team’s history, our cooks/chefs passion, and our serving staff/managers commitment – true service ambassadors.

Combined with Peter’s 52 years of experience in the steakhouse business – our philosophy at City Grill is not complicated at all: “Everyone who walks through our doors must have the best time they can possibly have”.

By embracing this notion, every guest will and must have exceptional service and outstanding food. Whether you come for a casual dinner with friends or family, a special celebration or a business lunch/dinner – we are committed to your dining pleasure.

In the words of our Owner:

“Our menu is never complete” – as he and his team finds inspiration every-where: In new ingredients, new techniques, modern new twists and a fresh take on good old classics.
